I think he maybe just wanted some time to himself. You yourself stated you guys have been arguing over some small things. I wouldn't just jump to he is cheating unless you are feeling guilty for lusting over someone or cheating previously or he has done it before. Honestly I would do nothing but make things more enjoyable at home trying to get to the root of the issue
