Walking is ok...but the more strenous the exercise the more it will help. I don't do high impact aerobics or run or anything that is high impact due to a knee injury from my youth. I roller skate! Not on roller blades but on good old quads and I play roller derby! Skating is more strenous than walking a better aerobic workout and little to no impact! Roller skating (and roller derby) is making a comeback. If you ever roller skated before now might be the time to break those skate out again! If you're street skaing, you're probably going to want to invest in some pads and a helmet, if you have a rink in town, check out their hours and schedules.

I had been off skates for 25 years before I started roller derby....and now I can't even remember why I ever quit skating to begin with! It's the best workout i've ever done! Not to mention great for the booty!
