I have a five year old nephew who lives with me. He doesn't have a problem going to bed but every night around 3am he wakes up crying. For no reason whatsoever. Sometimes he'll say there are bugs in his room and he cant stay in there and sometimes he wont give me an answer. So every night from 3am on.....he sleeps with me and my boyfriend, which can make the bed really crowded. (we also have a full grown dog that loves to cuddle in bed with us) I can't handle him in the other room crying but the sleeping situation is making me not get very much sleep. I guess sometimes there is no explanation for why children dont want to be alone. My only thing to you is...do what you think is right for your child. Hopefully they will grow out of it soon
