I too met an online guy I really liked- just a fantasy it turned out- he was hunky, athletic. He was always polite when he wrote to me, and thoughtful, very open it seemed, never asked to see more photos of me or for anything inappropriate, he really enjoyed my emails, it seemed. Even when we met, he was very gentlemanly. We were only going to meet for a drink but it turned into dinner. And then he walked me home, we hugged goodbye. He seemed to really want to see me again, made all kinds of talk about "next year.." but when it finally came down to meeting up again... he blew me off! Asked me out for a Saturday night, I said yes, and then he never got back to me! I know there are success stories for online - but it is just so random!! I was actually a little hurt by his behavior at the time.... laughed it off now!!
