There are a few reasons this could be happening.

1. Yes, there is a time limit on how long your session can remain idle. If you wait too long to do something, the system will automatically log you out. We have this in place to reduce wasted server resources.

However, if you have written a post, hit submit, and it tells you you "have to be logged in", just log in from the page and it will automatically post your message at the same time. If you leave that page without logging in, then you lose your post.

2. There is also a limit to how many characters can be used in a post also. The system will tell you when you have used too many characters and then give you the option to edit your post.

3. Occassionally, our server experiences high loads and is overwhelmed (we are working on this) and it can some times cause the system to log people out if there are too many connections, cause an error page, or similar things to happen. These things can happen with all large websites.

My best advice to everyone is to copy your messages into your clip board before you hit the submit button. This will save what you have typed to your computer temporarilly in case you have a problem with the page. To do this, follow these instructions:

Use your mouse to highlight the text you have written (hold down the left mouse button and drag over the text). Once all the text is highlighted, press "Ctrl" and "C" at the same time on your keyboard (for Windows users only). You will not see anything happen when you do this. You can press those a couple of times together to be sure you copied it (just make sure the text is still highlighted). Then, you can go to another post if you need to and paste the text you have copied. Paste by clicking on the area where you want the text to be inserted, press "Ctrl" and "V" at the same time on your keyboard. You should then see the text you copied earlier pasted into the new post. You have to make sure you do it exactly like that or it won't work. I suggest practicing it. Another helpful shortcut for highlighting is "Ctrl" and "A" pressed at the same time. It will highlight all the text in an area so make sure you click inside the text area before pressing it.
