I'm sorry that you were given the wrong info by the doctors, patricias. My youngest had RSV when she was 2 months old and again when she was 11 months old. Each time she (or I should say we) had a 5 day stay in the hospital under a plastic tent breathing in oxygen, with breathing treatments every three hours. She was being fed through an IV because she was so congested that she couldn't hold down formula. I had to pat her back a few times a day to help loosen the congestion. They had to put tubes down her nose a few times a day to suck out the phlegm from her lungs that was causing her to have severe breathing difficulty. And I had a bad cold the first time, so they quarantined us to our own room. I also went through a bit of a run around because the dr's didn't know what my daughter had at first. It's good that you're at home because your baby probably has a milder case. Have you tried running a hot shower and sitting in the bathroom with your baby with the door closed a few times a day? I guess that's the same thing as the humidifier' but on a larger scale. I've also used Vicks, but didn't think about problems with putting it on a baby's skin...guess that makes me a bad mom (lol!). But I'm sorry I can't suggest anything else...there is no 'cure' for rsv. I know I'm a few days late, but I hope that you've found a good doctor that know's what he or she is doing and that your baby will be feeling better soon.
