OMG !! a site where there are sooo many other women suffering from this !! apologies in advance for my rant.... but here goes..

I have had BV for over fifteen years and have ONLY just found out that this isn't normal... I have spent years not only using panty liners but on really bad days, I have to use a sanitary towel because the discharge is that excessive, some days it even goes through my clothes and on to chairs and trust me, it has often causes masses of embarassment where I have had to say that I am sweating :/ and what's worse is that I only found out I had BV by doing a home test... and only because my partner and I have been trying for a baby for two years and it doesnt seem to be happening for us, so after having routine STD tests (twice!!) and getting the all clear I spoke to an old friend who mentioned BV and trichomoniasis to me (which also has the same symptoms) and it made me wonder, my doctor prescribed me with 2g of metronidazole (after I took the home test) in a single dosage, unfortunately I had to wait to get my period (to ensure I wasnt pregnant) so I only took it a couple of days ago and so far there has been absolutely no improvement except I only needed to use one panty liner today :/

I really hope that this isn't the reason that I can't fall pregnant (but I guess I will know as I have a fertility appt at the end of March), although I have had a few abnormal smear tests and even had a copolscopy where everything was normal and no one mentioned BV or anything similar.

I have lived with this for so many years, its like second nature. I dont have any pain or itching, merely overly excessive discharge and the fishy smell after sex

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I too am in the UK :-)
