Why would you pierce a 5 month old babys ears apart from if you see your child as your own personal accessory??

She is at risk from painful infections from the gun, pulling them out due to her own poor hand co ordination or other babies pulling on them (which happened to a child at my daughters nursery. A boy reached out to kiss and hug her and pulled her ear by accident ripping the lobe!)

My daughters had them done at age 5 YEARS and I felt that was too young but at least they had it done because the BEGGED and pleaded for weeks and knew what the they were doing.
