I did the same with my youngest who is now 15. I remember one day when he was about six months old I was at work and this girl that had a son the same age was talking about how she couldn't wait until her son was a year old because that's when her doctor had said she would be able to introduce baby food to him. I then told her that my son had been eating food for weeks and she started blessing me out telling me that her doctor told her that their stomachs were not able to digest food properly at that age.
Well, needless to say both of my boys are very healthy.
I'm not telling you to go against anything your doctor may seem as unhealthy but what I'm trying to say is that you know your child better than anyone else and if you think she is ready and want to introduce her to some light healthy foods I think it is ultimately your decision to make.

Our pediatrician says that they have to be able to swallow properly and not push back out the food with there tougne. I was also reading in babycenter that if fed too early it can cause allergies. I had a friend who gave her baby rice cereal from 2 months so i guess it varies. My daughter also tripled her birth weight so the doc thinks she is doing fine on formula for now, he says wait atleast 5 months. I am just way too excited to start her on rice cereal, oh and by solids i mean't the cereal lol. They told me start her on baby food like carrots, peas etc from around 9 months but then again i had a friend who started her baby on jar foods from 5 months! So it probably really depends on the baby.
I wanna start her at 5 months but i feel like if i do i may be pushing her or maybe not doing the right thing?
Another mom was telling me that in Michigan they now have a law that says babies should be fed cereal and solids from 6 months and up.
