The era of the sexualisation of the man has also recently begun... Pepsi adverts, James Bond's rippling muscles emerging from the water. Not to mention the way that our society defines masculinity - muscly, aggressive, alpha male types. That very same social conditioning drives a fair few men to jail trying to make themselves "manly" and win respect by fighting etc.

Personally, I just think that we, as individuals and as parents, need to live as we see fit. I can't help but think of the other thread in motherhood about having your babies ears pierced, so this isn't all coming from the media - it's coming from the parents too. Women were having sex at a young age as far as time goes back, just because it's happening now doesn't mean that it hasn't always been. I'm not saying it's right, but you can't blame everything on TV.

Isn't the new Rambo film effectively the masculine equivilent of porn? As for saying that todays society is influenced similarly to the nazis.... All of our cultures are built out of influence. In fact the very moral codes we hold ourselves to are simply the remnents of christianity - whether the person is religious or not. (obviously the negatives of christianity being things like monogomy, and homophobia).

Girls need to stand up and represent themselves, we can't really say it's all men's fault when all a lot of women can think about is talking about what to wear with their friends, who they want to shag them, stumbling around in high heels, wishing they could have boob jobs... You can't always blame what people are exposed to - people should be strong enough to be what they want to be - and if some of those people wind up being slags then so be it - just like some men will be masculine extremes etc.
