I understand your frustration, and in being frustrated there may have been harsh conclusions and stereotypes, but none the less a valid problem. There are a lot of things wrong with the way (the majority) of people think. Where I live, politics can be summed up in one phrase, "straight ticket". Meaning the general thought is, "I'm Christian, and Republicans are Christian, so every Republican will do what I want, which is best for everyone." If you read that quotation with a southern twang, then you'll fully understand it. The party system is, in my opinion, very skewed. Personally, I am democratic, but I vote on the person, not the party. All the way from my local mayor, to my House Rep, to President.

I was raised in a traditional Christian family, as well as my boyfriend, however, let me explain the difference of opinions between our parents that are apart of the "Baby Boomer Generation". My parents are proud that I have made my own political decisions based on intense research and personal beliefs. Where as my boyfriends parents find it appalling that I would even THINK to vote in a non-Christian to be our American leader. I could go on, but I'll spare you the details. I now understand why my mother always told everyone at dinner to "Not discuss religion or politics at the table."

Everyone has made up their mind, whether it be by the media, the mass opinion, their family, or by themselves. There is nothing you could do about that but be patient, understanding and...humble, for lack of a better word. Although now and then, you are allowed to vent.
