Hi!! wow, you described my hair!!!
I think the only thing different is mine doesnt look dirty from products but I am very picky about them because I dont like sticky. I am adding much more than you asked for but maybe some of it will help out
I have found a few things that help me:
- wash and dry but not totally dry at night ..if it's freshly cleaned, it wont cooperate at all. and blow dry it upside down for volume. sleeping with it just slightly wet will add texture. I also sometimes sleep with a scrunchy wrapped around the length to add curl.
- I wear my hair up allot instead of trying to mess with it down and I watch youtube at times for new easy updo ideas.
- if it's muggy or raining and I am to be outside, I dont bother with a downstyle at all unless straight.
- I think best styles for volume would be some layers and not too much length. I keep mine just below shoulders. But, I was able to get good volume with the inverted bob as long as I styled it with a hot hair dryer every day and the back looked cute cuz it was shorter in the back so didnt need much styling. ...sounded like you may have more of a straight bob?
- I have also found having it highlighted now and then adds volume and adds the look of volume
- when you want a downstyle, blow dry the style on hot with a light styling product. nothing too heavy because the weight will only pull your hair down. and try to blow dry it pulling your hair up and over to the opposite side for volume.
for volumizing hair products... I use:
Marc Anthony 'Thick' shampoo and conditioner
(sold at some grocery stores)
Wella Liquid Hair Energy Styler Volumizing Mousse **** works great!
(sold at some salons and I have also ordered online) (not sticky and I use it at night before drying)
Redken Medium Control Workforce 09 Flexible Volumizing Spray - 2 oz (60 ml)
(lightly spray before styling) (sold at some salons..call around)
Dove weightless hairspray (not sticky and is humidity resistant)
(sold at Walmart and some grocery stores)
hope this helps!
