I'm counting calories and keeping my ratios on a moderate protein plan of 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% fat. It might be useful to log in the foods you're eating on a calorie counter to see where everything is going, i.e. carb vs protein vs fat intake. I know I used to have too many carbs ... it was all whole grain but it wasn't balanced, so I ended up hungry all the time.

I also have children, 2 boys, and don't plan to wear a bikini any time soon, hehe. I just wanted to take control of my health and have some level of fitness. I was such a weakling a month ago!

Cardio is great but don't forget to have some kind of resistance also. It will only make your cardio burn even more calories.
