In my opinion the book was better than the movie and in hardly anyway were they similar. Yeah, the same concept and such, a few things here and there but it wasn't the true story, i dunno.
Maybe it was because i was a little girl obsessed with finding love and/or a boyfriend and in place, the book became my love. I read the books before everything got "OMG TWILIGHT OMG!!" ya know? I can't read the same story by a different author ever single time i pick up a book. It was different. I dunno how to explain to you HOW it was different because it just was to me.. It wasn't something that i just read the other day, ya know? I go from book to book with a quickness, mostly teen stuff because I'm still in that stage, but whatever, ya know? We all have our own preferences.
Have you read her other book The Host? It's a "Sci-Fi" for people who aren't interested in Sci-Fi.
Other not so vampire "vampire" books that i enjoyed were the A House of Night Novel: Marked series by P.C Cast + Kristin Cast and the Blue Bloods series by De La Cruz.
To Fitness: I understood your point of the whole Lord of the Rings comment. It doesn't matter if LOTR was an incredible book and movie [not so much in my eyes, never got into it =/] and it wasn't a good comparison [lol] they actually made it as the book, ya know? And everyone loved it.
I dunnnnnnooo. I just know i loved the books, the movie was enough for me to like and that is that, ya know?
