You need to determine how many calories you should be eating based on your goals. Try to find what foods/drinks like sodas that you normally eat/drink that can be cut out on a daily basis so that your calorie intake is less. Make sure your taking in enough protein, good carbs from veges./fruits. Cut back on starches, rice/pasta etc.

It is a good plan to write down what you eat for a week and see where you can cut back on.

My normal diet:
A.M. oats/egg whites
snack: cottage cheese with a fruit
lunch:salad, with protein and lo fat dressing OR chicken/fish/ground turkey with vegetables.
snack:rice cakes
dinner:meat and vegetables.

I try to stay within 200-300 calories for the meals and 100-200 for snacks.
It also depends if I worked out that day, if so, then I maybe a little bit hungrier then if not. So if I do not work out then I lower my calories.
