I will precede all my comments by saying I have one of THE best doctors, to whom I attribute the success of my procedure, and I fully believe that some people have not had the same luck, unfortunately.
I completed my HSG test this week after having the Essure procedure done in March. The Essure was flawless- afterwards took a two-hour nap then was up and at 'em for the evening. I would describe it as just mild discomfort. HSG was relatively painless. In fact, I asked my doctor, "That's it?" (and I would NOT say that I have an abnormally high pain threshold!) A few days prior to when I had my Essure scheduled, I called to ask the nurses some questions. I was really nervous after reading all the horror stories on various websites. My doctor called me back personally and took time to answer all my questions. I haven't had a single regret. HOWEVER, I don't think it's possible to determine how it will go for everyone. Everyone's pain threshold is different; everyone's bodies are different; everyone's overall health is different, obviously, and these should all be taken into account (again, obviously!) My doctor, whom I trust entirely, has seen no major complications and has been performing this for years; he even shared that he performed Essure on his wife. Talk to your doctor and have all the questions answered before following through. Find out how long he/she has been doing the Essure procedure. I believe this was a huge factor in the success of my procedure.
