I've never been good at this because I am normally a shy person.

In junior high I had a major crush on a guy, and it extended into the first couple years of high school. We knew each other but weren't really friends, and he knew I liked him even though he never directly told me I didn't have a chance with him. During the last couple years of high school and my first year of college I basically 'moved on' and explored opportunities with other guys. Recently I had the opportunity to hang out with him in a group of people but I didn't talk to him much. I'm sort of playing with the idea of trying to pursue something with him but I'm sort of unaware of how to go about it. I have his screen name on instant messenger and I've talked to him a couple of times since I saw him, and it didn't seem like he was that opposed to me.

But we have an awkward past and I don't want him to think I've been obsessed with him for the past almost 6 years, so how do you think I should go about it?
