You can meet someone just about anywhere, expand and develop your interests. Get out and about. Good people generally know other good people so get togther with freinds in a mixed group.
It takes time to get to know someone and see what they really are, don't rush into things.
Of course you can ask. How else are you going to find out? Bring it up in casual conversation. "That Joe seems like a really nice guy, his wife is a lucky lady" Someone who knows will either agree or say something that lets you know.
