Question Dissolving stitches

Has anyone else had a reaction to dissolving stitches? Such as, swelling around the site, red inflamed, very tender to touch, weeping, and an overall extreme tiredness (often falling asleep). I went to my GP and had the dissolving stitches taken out 7 days after the operation and they had not started to dissolve. Within 2 hours of having the stitches taken out the redness had started to subside, and tenderness and extreme tiredness had started to leave me. The next day I had no tenderness at the 4 sites the redness had halved, the weeping had stoped and I had energy (not wanting to sleep 2 hrs after rising).

Should I note that this was a allergic reaction or was it just something that happend at the same time?

I am allergic to many sticking plaster patches with redness and itching occuring within the first hour of use.

It could have been an allergic reaction to a particular ingredient used to make the stitches. Or, it could have been an infection which just happened to be irritated by the stitches.

yes i have that happen to me as well, but slightly worrying the first time as it was with my c section stitches!!! they started to come out thr my belly!! but boy what a relief when they did come out, the itching the swelling and the pain went immediatly, i have had this happen every time i have had them now and the last time i had to have stitches i talked to the doctor before she cut me open and asked for butterfly ones instead and had nothing go one at all, you can hardly see the scar on that one compared to the same cuts twice previously a few cms apart
