Default Pantyliners, shaving, or birth control?

About three weeks ago, I started the birth control loestrin24fe. Unfortunately, I've had a week straight of breakthru bleeding among other problems, so I'm switching once i finish this packet.

To deal with the bleeding, I bought pantyliners yesterday. Two days ago, I shaved all down there and today, I began feeling a bit irritated towards the end of the day and was scratching. I changed my tampon in the bathroom a half hour ago, and noticed that the areas near my lower bikini line had what looked like a couple hives.

Do you think this is my having an allergic reaction to the mini pads I bought? Or is it real bad raverburn? Or perhaps an allergic reaction to the pill?

I plan on taking more action in the morning but it's late to consult anyone now and was simply wondering input. I took off the panty liners and put some vasiline on the area to soothe it. What medicine works well for this?

It could be an allergy to the scents in the pads. I always get unscented. If unscented then that's probably not it. It's more likely just the friction and extra moisture against sensitive skin. Especially if this is the first time you've shaved. It takes awhile for the skin to get used to not having anything to protect it. Also the reason I mention extra moisture is because hair actually helps remove moisture from skin and dry the skin so shaving it makes the skin stay wetter. Pads also hold moisture up against the skin and don't let it evaporate since they have a plastic backing. The first few times you shave it's suggested to wear comfortable breatheable cotton type underwear and loose fitting clothes to avoid such problems until the skin adjusts.

Do you shave the bikini area often? I don't do it too often, but every time I do, I get tons of red itchy bumps. I think it must take getting used to, the skin there is really sensitive and the hair is thick. But the pantyliners could be making it worse since they hold in moisture. Let the hair grow back a bit and see if the bumps are still a problem.
