Allergic Reaction to makeup
Hi Girls
My Name Is Crystal Waters I am a 48 year old Glam Transvestite & have of late developed constant streaming eyes & running nose when I put on makeup? It started this summer 2009 & I thought it must be down to Hay Fever! We are now in late October & still I have the problem & it's driving me nuts. Thinking along the lines of I may be using cheep inferior products I have just purchased Mayberlene Liquid foundation, eye shadows, lipstick & eye liner pensils. Still have the problem? I even took Hayfeaver Anti-histermine tablet & that had no reaction at all. Please can someone tell me what to do as its so uncomfortable. Would it be worth trying Body Shop products? Look forward to your comments xx Crystal

Hello Crystal maybe google for make up that doesnt contain any chemicals. I know they exist (not sure on the name though)

There are a lot of things in most make up that you could be reacting to. I'm paraben sensitive, as is about 10% of the population to some degree. That could be your culprit. I find skin care and cosmetics at the natural foods store and Origins. Both Macys and Dillards carry Origins and they have their own shops in some cities. Their consulatants will sometimes do make demos. Why not call or stop by and see if you could have then do that? Keep your skin make up free for a while and let the reaction calm down, then have them make you up and see what happens?
Parabens are a cheap preservative that came into heavy use in the 80s. They have been connected to breast cancer and can be found, at least in the US, in darned near everything from shampoo and toothpaste to lotions and make up, and even in some allergy drugs! If you remember your chemistry classes it comes in butyl, methyl, propal, iso - lots of forms and is considered an inert ingredient. so it's listed somewhere from the middle to the end of the ingredients list. Even the so called hypo allergernic or allergy free products may have it. Origins is the only major line I know of that is free of it. It has been banned in the EU so I hope we will see more companies getting it out of their products. Good luck, it's no fun having these reactions!
