Default Neti Pot! Try it for allergies!

I haven't tried one yet but I just saw on oprah the other day that a neti pot can really help someone with allergies like me.

its like a little gravy boat lookin thing that you put water and salt into. then you tip your head sideways and literally flush out one nostril at a time.

Dr. oz the gues on the show that day said that doctors who specialize in noses recommend this method more than any medication

I'm going to go try and find it at a natural health foods store or maybe walgreens and see if this sucker works

I tried that Neti Pot... I nearly drowned.

One day, I'll master it.

Smile Neti Pot

I have a neti pot. It WORKS!!! It has saved me from many sinus infections. If you tend to get congested rather than your nose being runny, it really helps. It does take a little practice. Also decrease the amount of salt and use warm water if it burns your nose. If the mixture is right, it really helps your sinuses to feel better. I have many friends who also really love the way it works. By the way, it is very inexpensive at places like Walgreens and comes with the little salt packages. I use 1/2 of a salt package in warm water. Good luck learning how to work it.

LOL! I know exactly what you mean. I tried it a couple of times myself and felt the same way.

My dad also has one and he swears by it.

Thumbs up Neti Pot is a miracle!

My husband has had severe allergies most of his life. Whenever the Fall season comes around I used to stock up on the best over-the-counters available, like Claritin, etc. Since using the Neti Pot - about a year now, he hasn't had to use any medicines whatsoever! He uses it once a day, sometimes once in the morning and once at night. Follow the directions and you WON'T drown. You only feel that way because your head is tilted too high up and you must put your chin down. I try to stay away from medicines/drugs as much as possible as they are not good for the body and the Neti Pot delivers. My husband doesn't get mood swings from these allergy medicines anymore because he no longer has a need for them due to the Neti Pot - so use it and you'll definitely be so much happier you did.

I love my Neti...use it in the mornings after my shower....and sometimes at night. Im sensitive to sinus/allergy meds. Also, pain relivers can be tough on the tummy after a while. During summer when I have allergies, I use Neti at lunchbreak too and it totally keeps my allergies in check. During winter, sinuses drive me crazy, but the Neti pot REALLY helps.

Yes it's an odd feeling at first, but when you find your perfect position to do it, it really works. Highly recommended!

Ps. I use 1/2 a teaspoon of non iodized salt. Too much salt can burn, and not enough salt can burn even worse.

As with another member, My mom saw this dandy little thing on Oprah with Dr. OZ, knowing my on going sinus problems, she bugged me to try it ...thinking it was just another thing on the market, boy was I surprised! It does work! Sympathizing with the ones who felt they almost drownded, but you will get better with it in time.
I found I only have to use half a packet each time as well.
The only concen that I had ,Is with those who have chlorine in their water, I have it here, (not knowing until i already used the water, because it is minimal) I use spring water, and if I am out, I use it from my brita.
IMO it is well worth it for anyone with sinus trouble and allergies.
Happy neti-potting!
