Default To Food Allergy Sufferers...

I feel for you! I am currently employed in a high class restaurant and my goodness there are a lot of things to be allergic to that I had never even thought of. I, personally, do not have any severe allergies, but I've run across a large amount of people who do. One of my good customers can only consume 100mg of salt per day. How do you ration that out? Practically everything has salt! Another lady is deathly allergic to any dairy product. All I could think about while taking her order was, "How does she live without cheese?". My question is, now and days, is it easier to eat around allergies because of all of the options we have? Such as soy products, etc? I'm curious of the effect these things have on daily living. No responses are needed, but are appreciated!

I think that the older we get, the more our body disregards things it no longer requires, or can take, injuries can also cause stress realted matters that double up with food in-take, such as chilli, or dairy products are a no no for IBS sufferers, who previously ate it throughout their life, but now it disagrees with them.

Working in a Restuarant you have just become more aware of what people can tolerate that previously you wouldn't have thought about..

It is easy to eat around allergies, or non tolerated foods. Yes, Soy is an example, they make lactose free milk for IBS sufferers, salt well, my favourite bugger ... Equal for those that can not stomach sugar.

The dangerous ones such as peanuts, which can kill people, is the one you really need to watch out for most....if asked.

I've learn to live through my allergies.

Can't eat pork. Gives me chestpains, nightmare, headaches, the works.

Fruits are deadly (mostly peaches, apples, cheeries, and tomatoes).

Certain cultures turn my stomach into mush.

Chocolate... is death. I eat it and I puff up and can't breathe.

Oil is bad, too. Not so much an allergic, but it can kill me since my body doesn't absorb oil and fat the way it's supposed to... I still wonder why I'm chubby.

And I think I might have a reaction to Hoodia.

What do I do about this? Nothing. I can live without all that other stuff. ^_^ Everything else is just as tasty. Besides, I hate chocolate.

Wow Ravsoma, I thought I had some dillies. Have you considered that part of the problem may be pesticides, hormone residues, antibiotics (in the meat) the 'eatible' wax coating, there's a chemical - forget the name that many meats and produce are treated with that many people are sensitive to. There's a little book, If You Love Me Don't Feed Me Junk by Sandy Gooch, she nearly died from debilitating, undiagnosable health problems. Her father, who is a biologist, got into the lab and started working, testing , researching. I think you might find the book very interesting and it could point you in the direction of resolving some of your reactions. It certainly helped me.
