Default Is being pampered by "professionals" overrated?

As the image of a woman leads more towards perfection, so does the amount of time and money spent to pamper ourselves! Getting hair and nails done almost seems like a necessity, but so does eyebrows, facials, massages, pedicures, etc!!! Where does it all end...and is it worth it?! This weekend, I decided to get a french manicure on my REAL nails. Fifteen dollars plus tip went down the drain that day and I left UNSATISFIED! How can these people even be called professionals. My nails started chipping a day later. Today, I became determined to achive the same look with better quality! With some tape...lol...I achieved the look of a French manicure on my own and my nails look great!!! So are we being scammed? Is it all worth it? Maybe I just had a bad experience, but I don't know when the next time will be when I get my nails done. Girls.....STOP spending you hard earned money and TRY to get the same look on your own at a much better price!

Thumbs up Haha!

Well, I agree with that for the most part! I too have done my own manicures. It really is not that hard to do and you will save tons of money! I think the issue is that a lot of people do not have the motivation to be "do-it-yourselfers". I am like that 100%! I won't pay someone else to do something unless I am completely incapable or am just being flat out lazy. LOL! One thing that is definately always nice though... going to the spa for a massage! Definately not a "do-it-yourselfer"! Hahaha! It's also just as easy to apply self-tanning lotion as it is to go get the spray on tan at the salon... cheaper too!

Default

i do agree and i do disagree.....sometimes it is nice to sit in a chair and get ur nails done perfectly by a proffesional because we all know the busy lives we live!!!!! but on the other hand it does save u money to buy a bottle of nailpolish for 3 dollars and do it yourself..........but treating ur self ONCE in a while is not a bad thing trust me on this one!!!!

Thumbs up Necessity

I have to say as a young girl becoming a woman, I would always get a manicure and pedicure every other week. I would also get my eyebrows done at a salon and I colored my hair like every fwe months at a salon. As I grew older and my parents weren't paying for these "nice necessities" I realized I didn't need them as much as I thought I did. I learned how (from a friend who is a nail tech) how to do my own nails and toes-they look just as good. Me and my sister take turn coloring each others hair, every 2-3 months and as for the eyebrows, after trial and error I finally realized the wax kits weren't for me and I tweeze the old fashion way. Yes, it's nice to treat yourself every now and then, but as you get older you learn what is really necessary and what isn't.
