Default Adult Cystic Acne

(Hey, I'm new.)

I was wondering if anyone else here suffers from and knows methods of dealing with cystic acne. Not the regular white/black head little pimples, but the large, painful, deep tissue cysts that form on the face, scalp, and neck.

I, my mother, and cousin are the only people I know with it. They take Tetracycline for it, which works beautifully (even helping with scars,) but I'm on an oral birth control, so steer clear of oral antibiotics.

Does anyone else have this?

What are your methods of controlling it?

I take a daily multi vitamin, wash my face twice a day, drink lots of water, and try to limit sweets, but never see a drop in the cyst problem (although I do have less small, topical pimples.)

Have any of you used other prescriptions that are not oral antibiotics with success?

Wink Hey

I know EXACTLY how you feel, ive had acne since i was 14,im 19 now,its hereditry in my family but I had really big cystic spots and they were awful sore like yours.Esp. on my chin. I went to the doctors and dermatoligists, ive tried all the tablets and expensive "acne creams" and nothing worked. They brought me down, prevented me from going out, meeting new people because I always felt people were staring at me.

Recently, my spots have under-gone a massive improvment, I started on the birth control dianette and using this cream called PanOxyl gel that i got from the chemist(not even a prerscription medication) and it was only €6. The only side effect was that it gives you dry skin but that can be easily sorted with a moisturiser. I couldnt beleive it, my acne was exactly like yours, now i have so much confidence that they are clearing up, if this worked for me, i have no doubt it will work for you!

Another good tip, try use foundations that contain minerals as this means the foundation doesnt seep into your pores making spots worse, rimmel do a great 1 which is only about 7€.
Please let me know how you get on! Id love to hear.
Btw. I was on birth control for 6months before my spots started clearing, these things take time but they do work.

Best of luck!!
xx
