Default Habit of biting nails...

I have a terrible habit of biting my nails and have done since a child. I have wore false nails to let's them grow underneath but they are very brittle and break easily. I have tried to kick the habit to no avail. My nails have also been damaged from wearing false ones. I'm desperate to grow them. Any tips?

I know theres a product you can buy that srops you from biting your nails. It has a really bad taste and discourages you from putting your nails anywhere near your mouth. There's also products you can buy that strengthen help help your nails grow but i dont think they're cheap

I am the same, I have tried nail hardener and like you bite them whenever anxious. Not tried the one which leaves a bad taste in your mouth, I will keep a eye out for that, will be worth a try. I wonder if there is anything I can introduce into my diet which could improve the condition of my nails?

i have heard biotin (tried it didnt seem to make a difference) silica (tried it, no difference) and zinc (havent tried it yet), mine are so soft and weak, probably from all the years of biting. good luck!

I bit my nails for probably 28 years or so. They are weak, frail, horrible. Unfortunately, I'm not doing them any justice either because I go in for manicures every two weeks and have acrylic laid over the top of them.

Not sure what can be done. If you find the cure, please let me now!

i have bitten my nails since day one..i grew them in unintentionally for about a year after a loved one's death..i'm sure there was a relation there somehow, but can't explain it..i hated the fact that they always snagged on clothes and scraped my eyeballs when putting in contacts and started biting again..men prolly aren't as obsessed about how their nails look as women are

i used to bite my nails for 17 years. now ... i don't anymore.
i just forced myself to not bite them anymore. it was because of my strong will.

I used to bite my nails but then I started working at a food place. You loose your job for that kind of thing. That's what broke my habit. Now I just keep them short (but not too short) so they don't snag or scratch. They're getting stronger since I stopped biting them though.

My boyfriend too bites his nails till blood comes out when he is stressed or all alone.

Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it unless you stop biting them. Let them grow, apply special nail cream on them everyday and massage for some minutes. My friend tried it and it worked, she now has long and beautiful nails.
