Default Can't find the perfect shade. Should I go a shade darker or a shade lighter??

Hi there!

I use Maybelline liquid foundation and I am having trouble finding a perfect shade for me. I am Korean and have olive tone skin. I only use Maybelline because it's the only product I haven't had an allergic reaction to.

I am having a super hard time finding a shade that is matching right now because I have been going to the tanning beds. Shade #2 is a tad too light and #3 is a tad too dark. They have a 2 and a 1/2, but that makes me look like a sick yellow Skittle. LOL!

Would you suggest to go the shade lighter or the shade darker?

I usually do my make up neutral colors, if that helps at all.

Have you tried buying both shades and mixing??

I have to do that with my Almay foundation.. I'm the anti-tan, what one would call "pasty." But the ivory is too light, and the light beige is too dark. I mix both on the back of my hand and apply and voiala! Perfection

KMonte makes a great point!

Have you tried mineral powder foundations? Those are pretty easy to mix and blend, and they're good for your skin - more chance of you not having a reaction... !

I second the mineral powder foundation. I hardly ever wear foundation, but I do like the Prescriptives All Skins Mineral Makeup.
