    Exclamation Beware of pedicures!

I was watching the Tyra Banks show today and she was covering something called microbacerial infection. This was the first I have heard of this and it was scary!

Many women are showing up with the infections just after getting a typical spa pedicure at a salon. Apparantly, when you put your legs into the spa tubs with the jets, bacteria is living in the jets and gets spread into the water that your legs are in. The bacteria then gets into your pores and starts to grow. As it grows, it eats and destroys your flesh, leaving open sores and missing areas of tissue. If it is not treated immediately, you can die from it. Keep in mind that this bacteria can also live in the other tools that are used as well.

This is very serious and has been covered by news stations such as CNN. I am surprised as I have never heard of it. I just wanted to make you all aware of this and warn you to be very careful.

Thats why I LOVE my salon the tubs you put your legs in there are ran through with bleach water and then just hot water to rinse after EVERY customer, the lady that owns it is a germaphobe and that works out well for her customers!!!

My mother recently went to get a pedicure and the thing they use to help peel of the skin from your heel cut her and she was bleeding for quite a while, it was a small cut though. I personally dont like that used on me, ive heard it to be illegal too!

    Default home pedicure

    1. Soak your feet in warm water, adding a few drops of any disinfectant. Scrub your toe nails with a fairly stiff nail-brush. Scrub off any hard skin with a pumice stone. Never try to cut hard skin as this can be dangerous. Dry the feet carefully, especially between the toes.

    2. Massage the feet with a little foot cream. You may get one containing menthol which is very cooling.

    3. Apply cuticle cream around the nails.

    4. Using an orange stick, wrapped with a twist of cotton wool and dipped in cuticle remover, gently press the cuticle back. The cuticle should never be cut unless the edges are ragged.

    5. Cut the nails straight across and then smooth the edges with an emery-board. the nails should not be so short that the soft flesh at the ends of the toe is exposed.

    6. Use a little varnish remover on cotton wool to dry off the nails and remove any cream.

    7. Cotton wool pads can now be put between the toes. This is to avoid smudging and the varnish applied, covering the whole nail and over the tip.
