I've had my hair coloured every shade but blonde - since i'm dark naturally. I've had honey highlights before but total blonde would just be to funny for me

If you think your hair is dull - you have some options 1) professional salons have glosses that they can put on your hair instead of color. the gloss will shine up your hair and help seal the broken parts of the hair shaft Most salons probably use a bit of the gloss in their colors when they mix so the client looks that much better. 2) you can ask the salon to use a demi permenant color line on your hair and its good for about 6 weeks to see if you would like to try permenant color. Demi's don't use bleach so it doesn't dry your hair futher. If you go darker then permenant hair color won't need anything higher then a 10 volume bleach because you would just be applying color not lightening and processing the hair as such.

    3) get a hair treatment like Kpak deep hydrating and you can leave in your hair over night and rinse the next AM to help soften your hair. You can also buy oils for your hair to help soften your hair and shine it up.

The great thing about coloring your hair is that it's not permanent. Try it, try dif shades and highlights and colors and see if ya like it. Hair color isn't like a tat that sticks round for years--- have fun!
Oh, an be glad you're a woman. We're expected to try dif things. Poor guys! I have a friend at work who uses that men's stuff to darken his hair and get rid of gray. It looks so darn fake it's not even funny, but he's afraid to quit using it 'cause he doesn't want other folks to know he started in the first place! lol
