Question ARGH..! Okay, The GRAY has multiplied....

I checked previous threads and did not find anything on this, but i may be wrong... excuse me if i missed it..
I have been using Naturals hair color for about two years. It washes out, the box states after 28 washes, but since i have more gray it does not last that long.
I have very long hair, just above my hip. It is becoming more salt then pepper.. Is there any Natural coloring that can be used?? I used henna once and it brought out way...Way too much of my natural highlights, however, that was 10 years ago. With the gray i have now would it do the same? I have heard of walnut, but will that make it appear too flat? (dull and dark) Any tips, advise?? And can you use lemon juice to add highlights to soften it after coloring? Or will that change/erase, and bring back the gray?
Argh...! Can you tell i am lost with this..? LOL

I would think, lemon juice on brown coloured hair will make orange highlights. You can buy shampoos which contain henna, which used over time, may help. Diet can have a hge effect on hair. You could have your levels of Vitimin B12 check, and eat less meat. But is it worth it.. If you would rather have white hair rather than gray thats possible, though I highly doubt thats what your after! There arnt a great lot of natural ways to disguise gray hair.. You could try staining your hair with tea, but that depends on your natural colour, and is temporary and no good in the rain. The only thing I could suggest is using a permanent colour.. You can buy brands that are 'natural' and better for your hair, or you could use a semi permanent hair colour, which are actually not too bad for your hair depending on brand. They will fade over about 6 weeks. I used to use them and never found my hair left dry or brittle. Also, gray hair tends to become dry, invest in a good mask and/or leave in conditioner. xx

I used to have medium brown hair, with red highlights. now GRAY.. is added to the mix. And it jumps out, very visable.
I guess i was hoping for a 'NATURAL' solution. I have over the last couple years cut down on carnivorous habits, as my children are vegitarian. Lots of veggies, fruit and yogurt in my diet as well. The conditioner you suggest.. any brands better than another..? Oh.. i do use hot oil treatments about every 2 weeks too.. Should i be doing that more frequently???

We used to use a brand called Kerastace at the salon and it was EXCELLENT! Its expensive, but they have their own website online, they do some very very good conditioners and treatments. Expensive, but truly are worth the money. If you want something a bit cheaper, you could try the John Frieda range or the Aussie brand. I think Dove do some great conditions, namely the colour protect and intense care ranges. I LOVE them, Im using Pantene at the moment and thats okay. Tresemme do brands aimed at specific hair colours, I know the one for blonde hair worked I used it a few weeks back and it gave my hair a nice shine. I would imagine the others would be just as good. x

P.S- I forgot to mention, Dairy products have a negative effect for gray hair So does Salt.

Oh poo, I replied and it vanished. I like Surya Henna products, they are gentle on my hair, no nasty smells. Their shampoos and conditioner work pretty well. As a natural product it doesn't lather much but cleans OK.
