Default What to do with curly hair? Help!

I need some suggestions for super curly hair. My bf's daughter who is 11 has really tight frizzy curly hair. I have no experience with curly hair and have only been putting some paul mitchell gloss drops on her hair and have tried the frizz ease serum but it doesn't work as well. She refuses to wear her hair in anything but a ponytail, and her mom, who has the same curly hair, has pretty much taught her that the only way to deal with her hair is to get it chemically straightened when she's old enough. I keep trying to tell her her hair is awesome like it is and try to get her to wear it down. Any good advise on how to style her hair?

I have very curly, thick hair and it's definitely not the easiest type of hair to deal with especially with all of the tangles. In never had a great appreciation for my hair until I became older, now I love it. The best part of having curly hair is that it can be worn in so many different ways (straight, curly, wavy, up, or down....just not short) If your bf's daughter wants to try something different I would recommend buying a flat iron (straighteners) to straighten it. The typical flat irons from Wal-Mart will not work, go to a beauty store and invest in a good one. It will take a little bit of work but it will definitely be a change from the curls. Also you may want to try a product from Matrix Essentials called Instacure. It's a leave-in treatment that helps to reduce frizz and makes my hair more manageable. I use this after every shower and it reduces the amount of tangles. Another thing that can help deal with the curly hair is not blow drying it. Usually I just towel dry my hair, spray in some Instacure, and flip my head upside down and then apply hair gel throughout my hair just scrunching it all the way around. This doesn't take very long, it helps relax the curls so that they are not so very tight and it keeps the hair from becoming poofy.

I have wavy hair, but if I go to bed with my hair still wet, I wake up looking like Shirley Temple. The best tip that I've gotten was after regular shampoo/conditioner, tie your hair in a ponytail and let it dry like that, once its almost dry, I just run my fingers through it and its looks great and best of all frizz free! I use Garnier Fructis, sleek and shine for frizzy hair.

Control frizzy hair by cutting out shampoo. Shampooing is a terrible for curly and frizzy hair. The chemicals that make shampoo lather rip the moisture and protective coating from your scalp and hair. This leaves your hair shafts dehydrated and exposed to even more damage from the elements. More damage means more frizz.

If you must shampoo, don't shampoo the ends of your hair - just do the roots. And consider a low poo product.
