Default Dry Skin Tips for Face

Every year the cold seems to suck all the moisture out of my skin - especially on my face. I always get these little dry patches on my eyelids of all places that I hate because they get irritated when I wear make-up. Does anyone else have the same problem? What have you tried that makes them go away?

I'm going to put in a shameless plug for one of my favorite stores here...forgive me.

My skin tends to be naturally dry, but during the cold weather, it's just a nightmare. I don't get the dry patches on my eyelids so much (ouch!), but I do on other areas of my face. What has worked great for me is the Body Shop's Vitamin E Intense Moisture cream. They have an eye cream too, but the intense moisture stuff is a lot more heavy-duty, and great for the really dry patches. Even in the freezing wind we have in my neck of the woods right now, my skin feels great when I use it.

They also have a chamomile eye makeup remover that moisturizes as well as removes the makeup - love that stuff.

    Hope that helps.

I've used so many products for my dry face, as soon as I dry it out of the shower it feels like a desert! I finally settled on Pond's dry skin cream, it can be used on the face and I've rubbed some in over my eyelids before too and my skin always feels great! Just keep trying til you find one that suites your skin!

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I do some work with Eucerin so I finally tried one of their more intensive moisturizers ( I usually stick with the lighter lotions). I just dabbed a little of the Calming creme lotion on the really dry spots and so far so good. My skin feels much better this morning. I never really use the thicker creams, but I like the calming creme because it is non-greasy and hopefully will help prevent these dry spots in the future.

That sounds like a good breakfast too! I use Trader Joes Regenerating Face Lotion and it works great. I picked it out because it is the best smelling face lotion I have found, it was a definite bonus that it actually works well.

Try to find a cleanser that is Ph balanced and a moisturizer that is sustained release so it keeps working throughout the day.

I use Tom's daily moisture bar. I first got it as a free sample, included with an order from an online drugstore. In the winter, my skin dries out so much because of low humidity but this keeps it moist and soft.
