Thread: Which nail polish would go with a red dress?

I'm going to be wearing a floor-length satin red dress - almost a blood-red shade - with black strappy high heels. I have quite pale skin, dark brown hair, and will be wearing black eye make up and possibly a nude shade of lipstick. Any tips on nail polish color?

I think a french manicure, or black nail polish would look nice.

I can't afford a french manicure, I had considered black nail polish but wondered if that might be too much black with the black eye make up too...?

You can do it yourself, get a french manicure kit, they cost less than £6 usually.

I am also going to be wearing a blood red dress to my cousin's wedding this weekend. I've decided on a slightly deeper red nail polish on the toes (as am wearing open toed heels) and a french manicure on the fingernails. I'm also struggling to afford to get the manicure done, but I've noticed in some shops there are fake french manicured nails that you can glue on yourself (I work with animals and have terrible fingernails!). There is also a french manicure set like someone mentioned above, that comes with white, nude and clear paint, and sticky strips, so that you can do them yourself.

Otherwise, if you have nice long nails, black or very dark blue would be nice, but this sometimes looks odd on very short nails like mine. Otherwise silver or pale gold maybe? depending on what colour jewellery you wear I guess.

can i please see a picture of this dress? you sound like you would've looked absolutley stunnign regardless of nail color. lol

Hi I am assuming you are in the US but here in the UK a very fashionable colour is like a mink/mushroom-y colour which I think would look really nice with your dress and makeup. Sounds an awful colour but wears really well and I have had loads of compliments on it even if I am just wearing it casually or for a more dressed up look. Il try and send a link to the one I use. Don't know if you can get it in the US but doesn't chip and drys really quick.... and is cheap!!
