Actually your ears need earwax. It keeps them hydrated in the inside. If they are cleaned too often, it can cause them to be itchy and flakey. If you have no problems with your inner ears, then I would suggest keeping your normal routine. I clean my ears with q-tips (which isn't recommended either) about 1 time a week or every other week. If I do it too often, my ears get itchy.
~Today, any person can fight the battles of one day It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity's- yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore, live but one day at a time.~

I don't use them very often, for the very reasons you mentioned. Maybe... once every 3 months. My ears always feel good after using the candles. Do they have health benefits? No clue, I just like the way they feel.

I think it is really important to be aware of the heat this candle produces. Many bad experiences grow out of ignorance. Do not try without seeing the doctor first, it is my personal experience that the advice given by a professional in that field is always worth listening to. Those who just try it because they saw it TV, will have to realize that TV is just TV and therefore not real! I have worked in a health food store for a while and we've sold these candles too, and the feedback from our customers was neither really good or bad. No one - to my knowledge - got injured, but also no one thought it was a must to do that. Sometimes the tips and tricks from grandmas is worth more!
