Crest Whitening Strips get pretty good reviews. What kind of adverse affects are you concerned about?
I, personally, have invisalign trays from when I had to have braces, so I use those and put whitening cream I buy from my dentist in them. Leave them in for a couple hrs at a time and I'm good. Then I maintain by drinking most everything through a straw. No dark or colored liquids touching my teeth.

I have tried the crest white strips and also done the zoom whitening at my dentists office. They both work great. =) goodluck
