Default How often do you wash your cosmetic brushes and how?

I have never washed my cosmetic brushes before, but today when I looked at them, I thought since I am smearing it onto my face, I should wash them or rinse them with something every now and then? Is there any special way to wash them? I dont want to ruin them since I spent an arm and a leg on most of them!
    thank you

    Every 6-7 uses.
Tea Tree Oil, vinegar, mild shampoo can be used. If you use shampoo, make sure you are able to run it through water, until no bubbles form.
If you can, try to avoid getting water into the metal part that holds the bristles.

Dry them out, over night even.

Tap out the water from the bristles, and lean them or hang them up so the bristles are facing down.

    Hello!

I wash my brushes 1-2 times a week depending on how much ive used them. I use mild softening shampoo and it softens the bristles really well (perfect for synthetic brushes)!

Rinse them, and group them together with a hair elastic, then wrap string round the elastic and tie the other end to a coat hanger upside down to let them dry perfectly. You might want to place a towel underneath in case they drip! if youre looking for quick use, get a hairdryer and on the cool setting blast them. Hope this helps!

I bought my SO some high quality 'cosmetic brushes' after going through a large number of less expensive ones. They are 100% natural bristle and while I was inititally shocked at the cost, it's one of the smartest investments I've made. Another very smart thing that I did right away was to drill small holes through each handle near the top so that she could later hang them to dry.

She/we found that 'leaning' them as others have suggested causes the bristles to bend and eventually shape in that direction, which ultimately causes 'application challenges'.

It's also important to hang them with the bristles down to keep water and other stuff from getting into the adhesive located under the metal band (which will eventually lead to them falling apart prematurely).

She uses a mild shampoo, warm NOT hot water and washes them by hand in a large mixing type bowl. She replaces the warm water in the bowl frequently until all of the 'gunk' has been reoved from each brush then runs each brush under warm water as a 'final' rinse.

Natural bristle brushes require a little more care than others she's had...ie: she doesn't bang them against the edge of the sink (like you do your toothbrush for instance) to get the water out or 'flick' them through the air over the tub either. She merely squeezes the bristles between her thumb and first finger to 'ring' out as much water as possible then hangs them on wire hooks I made out of coat hanger from the shower curtain rod or a towel bar to air dry.

TO ALL MEN Do the woman you LOVE a favor, pay for THE BEST brushes you can find!!

She is applying products to her face and eyes, etc. The face that she loves and the face that you love...that just happens to have some of the most delicate skin on her body.

Cheap cosmetic brushes are like shaving with a cheap or dull razor....
