    Hi all,

I stumbled upon this site in search of information about birth control. I am 30 yrs old, happily married and don't ever want to have kids. But I also want to get off the pill. I am on Seasonque and after yet another day of migraines, I am just ready to try something different. I am also trying to live a bit healthier and really don't want to take hormones any more.

So I am curious about the whole "Natural Birth Control" thing. I kinda realized I am not eating hormone pumped food, why should I pump myself up with hormones. Plus the side effects are getting to me and I finally feel ready for a change.

so, any experinces, advice, resources, etc would be really helpful

I use NFP and have been doing so since 2/07 when I got an IUD removed. We have been successful in preventing pregnancy. I run a pretty normal 28 day cycle so it was easy for me. I use mymonthlycycles.com and abstain from sex or use a condom during fertile times. I increase my fertile times too just in case I give myself and extra 2 days before and a few days after what they say is my fertile time. It does tell you on the website that it should not be used to prevent pregnancy. There are things called cycle beads that essentially do the same thing and if you google naturl family planning you mayfind some local courses.

If you are positive you dont want kids then why don't you have a tubal or your husband a vasectomy ?

I don't want to risk an eptopic pregnancy. Plus, having your tubes tied also impacts your hormones. But mostly, because I don't want to totally modify my body like that.

An IUD is an excellent method, it doesn't have to have hormones, is easy, maintence free and cost effective. I had one for years, no problems.

I wouldn't recommend an IUD...there have been several class-action lawsuits in the US because they were causing toxic-shock syndrome and killing women. Also, the IUD doesn't prevent pregnancy...it just prevents implantation of an embryo.

I've been using Natural Family Planning for over 4 years now and it works great. I use the sympto-thermal method, but the Creighton method is just as effective.
