I was on thre depo shot for 6 years. Sure. it stopped my period.. but it also killed my sex drive and I was a raging psycho the entire time. It was like intense PMS moodswings that didnt go away. Needless to say I DO NOT recommend it!
Has anyone used birth control that stopped their period? What kind of concerns did your doctor have? Does it make cramping worse during the time you do have your period? How much more expensive is it? My doctor won't even discuss it with me, so i am considering switching to a new one. I heard that it doesn't cause long term reproduction problems, so I researched it and found it is very controversial and it's hard to get the facts strait. I don't want to stop mine just because it is a hassle, it's because I get intense cramping and I can't take pain relievers because of my stomach.

"Put on your big girl panties and deal with it!"
Grr. So the choice is extreme pms, or extreme cramps. Wow, there are so many options! I don't want shots either, afraid of needles. I know that I have to change my birth control, I am on the pill and I had a one and a half week period. As well as some of the most intense cramps I have had in years. Anybody have other ideas?
Have you tried taking birth control pills? I had horrible cramps and even normal pills that include the placebo week for a period have improved greatly.
Has your doctor checked for reasons why your period might be so painful, like endometriosis?
Lol, no she says i am too young for endometriosis. I am on the pill. Have been since I was 12. I have to change my pill every year because of my cramps. It's pretty bad.
If I were you, I'd google "too young for endometriosis." I just did and got PLENTY of results that say as long as you're menstruating, there's no such thing. Though it takes an invasive surgery to diagnose, it should be something your doctor is willing to check out. Your doctor should be open to looking for a reason and a treatment for your pain, instead of just ignoring you as s/he seems to be doing. Get a second opinion.
Thanks, I think I will try that. It's getting frustrating not knowing what is wrong! It's too painful to be normal is what I think.
