Thread: Birth Control/Period question...

Hello! My name is Sarah and boy am I glad I found this forum! I am 33 years old, and about a week and half ago I was prescribed Loestrin. This is my first time using the pill (using it to regulate my periods).

I'm a bit confused and I need some help. My period is due on Tuesday, December 16th. However, for the last 4-5 days I've been cramping, so it'll probably come earlier then Tuesday. The thing is, I am going to be on vacation from January 6th-10th, and I REALLY don't want to have my period. I know that if I take the first 21 pills and skip the other 7, and start on a new pack I should be ok. Although, I might have some spotting since my body won't be used to it. I have two questions. First, I am supposed to start using the pill on the Sunday after I get my period. Well, if I get my period tomorrow, is it ok to start on a Monday instead? If so...here's my 2nd question. If I start using the pill tomorrow, I will be done taking the 21 pills on January 4th. If I immediately start on a new pack, will that give me enough time to skip my period for January? (My period will be due to start again January 11th, but it's been known to come early)

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

You could just take the next cycle's first pill rather than the sugar pills from this one, but it isn't a good idea because it seems you're on a one month kind of thing, and if that's the case then your egg is ready to drop at this time...
