How old are you? Do you have any children?
Ahhh! Ok so I was on Ortho Lo and I just switched to Loestrin 24. Immediately, I got crazy upset stomach and I have lost the ability to lubricate. I still have my libido but sex is kinda hard. In addition, I was on Ovcon 35 a few years back and it caused me to put on 20 lbs that I simply couldn't lose. I've researched the Loestrin and its the same hormones as the Ovcon. Does that mean I'm probably gonna blow up again? Anyone gain a lot of weight on Loestrin?
On the Ortho Lo, I had an amazing sex drive and lubricated a lot. However, the Ortho Lo definitely blunted my orgasms but at the same time I had the best sex ever. I also got headaches, fits of uncontrollable crying and the worst flatulence ever. I feel torn...I like the Ortho sex a lot. I'm tempted to switch back but the question is will the bad side effects disappear the longer I take it?
Thanks in advance!

If you've had a child you could consider an IUD but NOT one with hormones. Women need to get over the idea of getting rid of their periods, all those extra hormones really aren't all that good for you. Depending on how sexually active you are, a diaphram works well too.
I gained 15-20 on LoEstrin. (which I was able to lose, with a little work, shortly after going off it) And I'm also much drier than I ever was before taking it....and I've bee off it for almost 5 years now.![]()
I am 21 so I dont think an IUD is an option. Sounds scary to me. As for the Ortho lo, do you think I could get used to it? There was only 1 day where I was crying for no reason but most other days I was just a little more sensitive than usual. I wasn't crying out of the blue per say. And if I take it at night, could I avoid the headaches? Although I'm not sure if the headaches were due to high blood pressure or not? Sometimes I'd get really flushed and hot which makes me think high bp.... This is hard!
Why would you want to take something that does all that to you? Sounds miserable. IUDs are great, I had a plain 7 for years - no problems and I know quite a few women who've loved them but none of us used the hormone type. Unless you are having sex regularly 4 or 5 times a day a diaphram works great. Do some research - get away from the drug company propaganda and see what you can learn - talk with your GYN- but remember she gets tons of the propaganda and may have financial incentives to prescribe certain drugs over others. You may have to try several before you find what works for you.
Have you talked to your doctor about Nuva ring? I have friends who swear by it.
