Birth Control Pills give you 3 weeks protection and one week break, sugar pills and off you go again...

Ask your Doctor regarding which ones, because all our bodies are different in dosage, pain during that time of the month all sorts..

As for how much the pills can hit you in the wallet, that depends on the pill, the brand, your insurance (or lack of), and where you buy them. Just general generic birth control pills used to run me about 15 dollars a month for the generic brand with insurance at Walmart. Then I switched to Nuvaring and paid $20 at Walmart with insurance. Then I lost my insurance and had to pay $50. It all depends. I would talk to your doctor. I think the original tetratricyclene is the cheapest to get without insurance but a doctor would be better able to tell you. If you are without insurance and need birth control I recommend looking into a group like planned parenthood. They will often be able to get you birth control very cheaply or even free if you are young enough (under 25 I believe but I could be wrong or it could vary) and you qualify. There are definitely ways to get it if you need it. Also, regardless of whether you have insurance or not you can always shop around at pharmacies and ask the pharmacist how much the cheapest birth control is out of pocket. Or, once you and a doctor decide which method is best for you you can take your prescription around and find out where you will be able to pay the least to get it.
