In addition to heart attacks, blood clots and strokes, Yaz and Yasmin have also been tied to gallbladder problems. In most cases, young women who have developed gallbladder problems have to have surgery to remove the organ. But even then, some continue to suffer from digestive problems. *EDIT

Thanks for all the info, for me Yaz has been working quite well. Every womans body is different. If you don't have PMDD, then you shouldn't use it. (It will screw you up) for me it was life-changing.

I started Yaz this past Sunday, so it's been almost 6 days or so, and before then I was a perfectly healthly 22 year old woman. Starting the first night I took it I have been incredibly sick to my stomach, the muscles in my arms feel weak and sometimes numb, my heart is racing, I'm dizzy, and I have slept for over 16 hours a day and still feel exhausted when I wake up. I'm shaky and sometimes feel confused. I'm calling the doctor tomorrow as soon as I can, my symptoms must be from the pill, I don't feel sick otherwise and was fine before I started them. I'm honestly scared this pill could kill me.

I personally took Yasmin a while back for a short period and had no real issues with it. However, I've had friends and read about many others suffering through some serious stuff. More recently, I've read about so many women having to get their gall bladders removed and most of the ages are from between 17-22. Ridiculous!

I took oral contraceptives for years, including Yaz (have the Mirena IUD now). I had no problems whatsoever, other than spotting when I took them continuously. I respect that some women have a different experience, but, like, don't throw the baby out with the bath water. OCPs do help a lot of women, including Yaz.

Yeah but the reason why there is a lot more fuss about Yaz is because it contains a different kind of hormone than most all other birth controls. This is what is causing more severe issues than any others at this point. Everyone should do careful and thorough investigating before choosing birth controls and definitely consider reviews online.

I hated yaz. It made me really emotional. I'd be angry a lot for no reason, I gained a ton of weight, and it did nothing for my bad cramping. Terrible experience!!

Extreme anxiety and mood swings, but i am one of those who cannot have hormonal birth control.

It is not the experience of today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore, live but one day at a time.~

    Exclamation Help please--Yasmin!

What will happen if I started taking Yasmin at the end of my period? I know it sounds stupid but I've had it sitting there for months (my last experience of the pill was cronic thrush after taking loette for several years) and thought u started at the end of your period. I've only taken one, should I postpone or just keep going? I'm very erratic and emotional/depressed to the point of hopelessness when I get my period -I was prescribed anti depressants for it years ago but no longer take them as I had a breakdown while on meds and hated the inability to have an orgasm ... So I'm hoping this pill will have the opposite effect that it would for stable women and help me be more level. I'm a completely different person around my period it scares me! My skin is still awful too even tho I'm 26 so hoping it will clear it up. Not interested in putting anything in my uterus either, freaks me out a bit! I know the depression aspect sounds extreme but when I am well I still become a total freak with period. Very hormonally low, sometimes outright crazy to the point where I forget I'm fine 20 other days of the month!
