I actually just switched from the orthotricyclen hi-lo to the nuva ring...and honestly i havent been on it for a full month yet but i have felt terrible. No energy, a lil dizzy, loss of appetite, lower back pains, very irritable. But no yeast infections and no weight gain, ive not noticed any hair thinning but its still early. Also it has fallen out a few times during intercourse and that is kinda scary. Overall i would have to say the nuvaring side effects are worse than that of the pill. Although keep in mind I just switched after about 4 years on the pill, so it might b my body freaking out because its something new and not used to it. Everyone reacts differently. anyways hope this helps.

Everyone is going to react differently to every form of birth control and they all have much the same risks and side effects. All you can really do is try it for yourself. So far I'm up to 4 forms of hormonal birth control that don't work and 1 that works great but my doctor won't let me skip the placebo pills to skip my period. I've been debating trying the nuvaring for that reason. I haven't really seen anymore reports of any particular problem or overall problems than any other hormonal birth control.

I went to the doctor today and she recommended it again so I think I will give it a go. My girlfriend said she loved it but it took about 3 months for her body and hormones to level off. So we'll see.

I am sorry to say but does anyone else think its pretty obvious that its the drug company pushing this b/c so hard? They recommended it to me as well on my first visit and me being a research queen, I decided not too. I like to know a product before using thus why I never took Yaz when they gave it to me because it was new on the market and wow...now its recalled! I know doctors always get the drug company introducing a new product making it sound so great and money to their ears, but come on ladies...do you really think this one thing can work for every woman like they're offering to you? Yes everyone is different and it takes a try to see how it works for you, but when your gyno is not even asking questions or looking to see if your side effects may be more likely due to your history...its about the money. Just like the flu shot giving pregnant women 2 months in miscarriages and women farther along delivering dead babies...o lets not mention all the freaking Mercury that goes to your brain every shot every year. You think you are protecting your kids getting in that line like a freaking blood drive, but really your killing them and yourselves. Sorry had to vent

To an extent, I agree. I've had one gyno and two nurses prescribe the NuvaRing for me over the last three years. I've yet to try it because of everything I've read on the internet. But then again a good friend of mine is on it and loves it. I don't know what a nurse practitioner at planned parenthood would have to gain by recommending it though.

Understood and some women do well with it, but despite TONS of bad reviews compared to your 1 friend it worked out for...you should still keep researching. Hope everything works out hunny
