Thread: Going from the normal pill to the mini-pill

I had been on the normal pill eg dianette/marviol for 6 years but about 2 months ago I was put onto the mini-pill (noriday) as I started to suffer from aura migraines. I got my period as normal at the end of the first month and got breakthrough bleeding twice during the second packet. I am now on the third packet and should have got my period 5 days ago but still no sign. I was told by the doctor my periods would be irregular for the first few months and I did pretty much get my period 3 times in 5 weeks so do i have anything to worry about? i have sex regularly and im terrified i might be pregnant.

Has anyone gone from the normal (21 days on 7 days off) pill to the mini-pill (28 days and no break)? What effect did you have or does anyone know anything about it?

I was on the combined pill for a couple of years and suffered with terrible periods. I was loosing huge clots and having awful pains. The doctor referred me to have a laparoscopy for suspected endemetriosis, but it came back that I was ok. I stopped taking the pill altogether for about 6 months and my periods actually became quite normal and regular. However, I was worried about risks of pregnancy, and went back to the docs. It was suggested that I went on the minipill. Been on cerazette for 4 months and it has been a total nightmare. Most of the time I have been bleeding, with the longest gap between bleeds being about 6 days. In the past 6 weeks, I've bled for about 4 weeks in total - I really can't see how this is going to change and become better. Also, I've put on 8 lbs in weight and my breasts have gone enormous and tingle and hurt all the time. I'm going back to the doctors this week, to see what he suggests...
