    Hello -

I have been on Aviane 28 (generic form of Alesse 28) for about a year now. I have always taken the full pack, i.e., the 21 active pills followed by inactive pills. Now as I am going on vacation and want to skip my period during that week, I took the 21 active pills, discarded the 7 inactive pills, and started the next set of active pills. My question is this: When skipping the inactive oills, does one have to go through the full set of 21 pills? i.e., in this case would I have to take all of the two 21-day sets before taking inactive poills again? Or is it ok to have taken the 21 active pills of the first pack, take 14 active pills (2 weeks) of the second pack, and then go on a week of inactive pills?

Thank you very much for any insight into this!

P.S. - If I take 3 weeks of active pills + 2 weeks of active pills (i.e., skipping inactive inbetween), then inactive pills during week 6, am I protected against pregnancy as I normally would be during the week of inactive pills?
