So I just got my set of pills for the birth control pill loestrin 24fe. I'm a little confused on my options as to when I can start taking these pills. I'd like to start as soon as possible.
It says take it the first day of your period or begin on Sunday (the one after your period.)
My last period began Saturday, July 11th.
I already missed the Sunday after my period, being as it's Tuesday today and that would have been two days ago. One of the reasons I'm on the pill is because of irregularity, so I don't wanna wait forever to begin usage because I don't know when my period is coming. I'm also sexually active, so sooner is better than later. Does it matter what day I start?
In the end, the king and the pawn both go into the same box.
The closer to your period the more likely it is to work quickly. If you wait too long it may not have full effectiveness the first month and it's best to use backup protection like condoms for that first month. Other than that you can actually start them whatever day of the week you want. Sunday is just suggested as a good time since it makes it easy to remember when you started a pack or each week of pills in case you miss some or other situations. My period was always delayed after I took the last week of active pills and would not end until I'd taken a couple more active pills. That would put my period right over the weekend if I started the pack on sunday. I moved the start of each week of pills and the new packs to wednesdays for that reason.
