Default copper iud removed surgically

Hi tomorrow I'm due to have my coil removed under gemeral anaesthetic.I went to have it removed as i was suffering with dreadfull heavy periods after 4 yrs of it being in and it was effecting my life so much that for two days of the month i really couldnt venture out.they tried to remove it using different surgical instruments in the family planning clinic but after having found it they couldnt remove it as she thought it was embedded. I went into hospital 6 months ago to have the op to have it removed i got into the op theatre and totally freaked out so i didnt go through with it. now tomorrow im faced with the same fear and im petrified. its not the op that is really bothering me eventhough i dont like the thought of it, but the general anesthetic.my gp has perscribed me diazapan to take tonight and tomorrow morning to try and relax me but i have taken this med before for anxiety and i know it dosnt totally chill me out.i am so very scared and i have doubt that i will be able to go through with it, but if i dont im worried about the consequences that could happen, eventhough my gp hasnt told me anything nasty if it does stay in but ultimately it will have to come out in another 4 yrs but maybe i feel better about it then. does anyone have any experience of this? that maybe able to help me, im desperate, i hvant been able to sleep since friday ( when i found out date for op ) and its all i can think about and its making me a wreck, any help would be so appreciated.

hi m sorry to hear abt ur ordeal, hope it went well seeing u posted this a month ago. I had mine inserted 5 weeks ago was in constant pain and yesterday felt it out like 1cm out had it removed today but i think its a raw deal. The pain is unbearable the periods are heavy was bedresting past 2 days coz every hour going thru a super tampon thats serious stuff hey.
IUD affects ur social life coz how can u go anywhere with that heavy a flow...!!!If mine hadnt been explled it might have imbedded too as it was not in place or worse might have punctured my uterus...anyway m not out of the woods yet still need to see a gynae but m glad its out.

I think it shud be banned cozes more stress than its worth!!!!
