I've read about it but am confused as there are both bad and good experiences and I don't know anyone personally who has tried this method. Did any of you ladies try norplant or implanol and were there side effects?

I know this thread is a little old, but for anyone else who might have a question about this...

I had the Norplant inserted back when it first came out..it goes in so easily. HOWEVER, a few month's in, I started bleeding daily..I stayed with it, but the bleeding worsened.. I actually ended up having it removed...and the part they hadn't told me was that while insertion is easy and not to painful, removing it IS. Scar tissue develops at the insertion site, and the MD will have to dig around in your arm to pull out the sticks. Then you will have a nice fan-shaped scar for the rest of your life to let everyone know you had Norplant.

Nice, right?
