if you are looking for general birth control then OTYA is right. If you are looking for birth control pills, theres no way to get it without seeing a health care specialist. although it does not have to be a general doctor. Depending on where you are located depends on your options. where I live, I can go to my local health department and they will provide birthcontrol pills after an exam that is done right there in the office. there are also clinics that will do this. I know the health department here changes you depending on your income. If you have no income, they give it to you free of charge.

I know it's nerve wracking. Try not to worry about it. If you are sexually active, it's very important that you get regular paps and exams. It's important to find a good Dr. The Dr I have now is awesome. The first time I went to see him for a pap, he had swiped my and I didn't feel a thing. He said, "Okay, you're done." I asked him if he was going to do the pap, he said he already did. Find someone you are comfortable with.
The process is pretty simple and doesn't take long. The Dr will exam your vagina externally to look for any abnormalities. Then he'll use a speculum to spread you open, at that point, they'll use a little brush and gently sweep at the entrance of your cervix. That sample is tested at a lab. After that, the Dr will remove the speculum and insert two fingers to feel around your ovaries, uterus, vagina, etc. Then you are done! And you can breathe. It shouldn't take any longer than 10-15 minutes.

Some do, some don't. I had one Dr who did as part of the exam, but my current Dr doesn't. You can talk to them about it and tell them you are not comfortable with it.
