    Question Pill Timing

Ok so I am new here but it seems like a really good place for advice. I have been on the pill for about 6 months now and am in a monogomous relationship. My last period lasted really long so I forgot to take my first 2 pills. Then I wasn't exactly at the same time on my next 2 or 3. We had sex and I was 5 hours late on my pill the next morning. He doesn't seem to think its anything to worry about but i do. I have heard a lot of stories about girls getting pregnant "on accident". Could someone please help me?

First thing to keep in mind is that birth control is not 100% effective to begin with. So,you can get pregnant at any time.

Second, if you do not take your pills as instructed it might increase your chances of getting pregnant. It just depends on your body and the amount of residual birth control in your body.

Third, there is usually residual birth control in your body even months after stopping it. So, you may have still been protected even though you missed a couple of days.

There is just no way to be sure in situations like this.

well I do know that you need to take your pill everyday at the same time in order for you to get into the routine of taking it and for it to be affective. My causin missed one day on a vacation she took with her husband and got pregnant and then again I was off it for two years and couldn't get pregnant. So it really all depends on who you are asking. Unless you already know how fertile you are, I wouldn't take the chance in missing any pills anymore. This is something you really have to keep up on. Put yout pills next to your alarm clock or if you drink coffee every morning put them next to the coffee machine or next to your tooth brush. If you put them in a place where you do the same thing every morning, you won't forget! Good luck with your pills. Trust me, take them everyday at the same time and you will be fine!
